• Don’t you think Article 371 talks about some other issue… it is related with Special provision with respect to the States of Maharashtra and Gujarat ,,,exercised by president giving responsibility to Governor to make special provisions for some parts of state… It is not giving special status to any state that is basically to provide special concession in central schemes and fundings

      • Naveen

It also related to providing concession in developmental schemes and special packages to equitable development of Vidharbha and Marathawada of Maharashtra and Saurashtra, Kutch of Gujarath. It also has provision to provide researvation in education and government jobs in these regions.

    • yes you are right….but both things have a different context,,,,currently these two states are having special provision under article 371,,,, but all 11 states which have special category status are not under article 371,, they get special concession in central funds by Gadgil formula and this is done by finance commission…

Bihar is among the states which have been developing at a fast pace but still they want special status..why so?? According to the Gadgil formula it does not fulfil the first criteria of harsh terrain.. Though it faces floods but does it really qualify the criteria to be granted as a special status state or it is just to get those privileges granted by the centre..??
